Matthew was born and raised in southern Indiana. He started piano and dance lessons
at the age of four. In grade school, he showed a growing interest in all things theatrical;
singing in school and church choirs, performing in school musicals, and putting on performances
on the front porch.

In 1990, Matthew was cast in Pippin at North High School. He played Theo, the little boy
with the large, loveable duck. After this experience, he knew the stage was where he wanted
to spend the rest of his life. After Pippin, Matthew was offered a role in Young Abe Lincoln, an
historical outdoor drama recounting the years Abraham Lincoln lived in Southern Indiana.
He was hooked. The rest of his school career was filled with more dance lessons, choir concerts,
ballet performances, leaving little time for mundane things like homework.

"You can't sing and dance your way through life," his mother always tried to remind him on days
his school work was suffering.

Matthew graduated from high school in the spring of 1996 and ventured off to Millikin University that fall to begin his college career as a Music Education major. At Millikin, he was one of four freshmen selected to be a part of Singing Blue, Millikin's nationally recognized show choir. With Singing Blue, Matthew performed with Jodi Benson, the voice of Disney's Ariel and the star of Broadway's Crazy For You. During college, Matthew continued to perform in choir and dance concerts, as well as at various stock theaters during the summer.

In the fall of 1998, Matthew transferred to Butler University to focus on his dancing. Upon arrival
at Butler, Matthew began the rigorous schedule of a Ballet Performance major. He spent six days
a week in class and rehearsal, receiving an amazing dance education. At Butler, he performed in
The Nutcracker, Giselle, as well as the annual Midwinter Dance Festivals. During his senior year,
an injured ankle all but ended his collegiate dance career.

After the ankle healed, the decision was made to leave school and pursue a career in musical theater. Matthew was hired by Royal Caribbean International as a dancer on the Sovereign of the Seas. After spending six months in the Bahamas, Matthew embarked on the next journey of his life. New York City.

Matthew immediately jumped into the audition pool. After only nine auditions, he landed his first job and got his Equity card as a cut dancer and male swing in A Chorus Line. Show business has taken Matthew all over the world. He toured Europe with Jesus Christ Superstar, took 42nd Street to Moscow, brought Argentina to America with Evita, and had a White Christmas in LA. He danced on a Broadway stage for the first time wearing high-heels as a 'Bonnet Beauty' in the opening number for Easter Bonnet 2005 at the New Amsterdam Theatre, and has since appeared in six productions for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Recently, Matthew produced a one night only cabaret entitled We Are What We Are, featuring the cast of the Ogunquit Playhouse production of La Cage aux Folles. The benefit raised $3000 for BC/EFA, an organization close to his heart. Last November, Matthew was named the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Volunteer of the Month.

Matthew feels fortunate to have worked with such noteable directors and choreographers as Walter Bobbie, Baayork Lee, Randy Skinner, Jerry Mitchell, Denis Jones, BT McNicholl, Marc Robin and Chase Brock, to name a few.

On any given day, you may find him pounding the proverbial pavement trying to land the next job, still singing and dancing his way through life.
